Bhubaneswar – In the run-up to International Youth Day,Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has launched a transformative week-long science campaign aimed at underscoringbenefits of learning science among the youth in underserved communities of Lanjigarh, Kalahandi. This initiative, part of the Vedanta Mini Science Centre program, brings STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education directly to villages that have limited access to such resources, impacting over 2,000 children across 40 schools in 33 villages. The initiative resonates with this year’s theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,’ by creating new digital and educational opportunities for youth in remote areas.

Vedanta Mini Science Centre augments the learning experience of students by providing the opportunity to learn through live hands-on models, plug-and-play systems and other interactive modules. These centres were launched this year to aid traditional teaching methodologies with a more practical understanding of STEM subjects for students across rural Odisha. In areas like Kalahandi, an aspirational district identified by NITI Aayog for focused development due to lagging progress in education and healthcare, this initiative is particularly impactful.By establishing these digital pathways, Vedanta Aluminium is improving education accessibility in underserved areas, ensuring equitable distribution of learning resources, and helping to build India’s future workforce.

Additionally, Vedanta’s Vidyagraha, an e-learning initiative enhances access to quality education among students in rural Odisha. Since its inception in 2022, the Vidyagraha initiative has impacted over 1,000 students in the remote areas of Jharsuguda, leveraging technological solutions and providing quality education to bridge gaps in rural access. This is achieved through recorded lectures and online career counselling for students from classes 8th to 10th.

On the occasion, Mr John Slaven, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Engaging and empowering young minds is central to our vision of driving positive transformation of society. At Vedanta Aluminium, one of the key pillars of community development is providing quality education to children hailing from remote areas of the country, and upskilling youth who are the future changemakers of the nation.Through such unique initiatives, we constantly aim to instil fervour for knowledge and inspiring them to aim high and dream big.”

Vedanta Aluminium is enhancing education accessibility across Odisha and Chhattisgarh to uplift socio-economic standards.
