Kalinganagar, August 28, 2026: Tata Steel Foundation, in partnership with the ‘Ho Ancient Culture and Science Welfare Foundation’, celebrated the 107th birth anniversary of Pt. Guru Kol Lako Bodra at Baliapal Football Ground, Salijanga on Thursday.
The event aimed to raise awareness about preserving and promoting Warang Kshiti, the official Ho language as a vital means of maintaining tribal identity and heritage of Ho community. The event saw the participation of around 600 community members coming together to sustain tribal linguistic heritage on the auspicious day.
Floral tributes to Pt. Guru Kol Lako Bodra were offered by key dignitaries, including Silai Purty, renowned social worker from Mayurbhanj; Ravi Marik, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel Kalinganagar; Bijay Laxmi Das, Sarpanch, Salijanga village; Debanjan Mukarjee, Head, Kalinganagar Impact Cluster, TSF; and other notable figures from the community.
During the event, the audience was captivated by enthralling cultural performances by the students of Tribal Language Class Centres. Apart from this, three exemplary language teachers along with three exemplary students were also felicitated on the occasion.
It may be noted here that, TSF currently runs 77 tribal language class centres across Kalinganagar, educating more than 3,000 students in Ol Chiki and Warang Kshiti languages, thereby reinstating its focus to the cultural and linguistic empowerment of the tribal communities in Odisha.
