Dynamics of Natural Antioxidants as Anti-viral and Neuroprotective Agent

Natural Antioxidants from plant resources including marine plant resources
play very vital, critical and crucial roles as anti-viral and neuroprotective agents
because of their structural complexities. It is their structural and biochemical
complexicity, that do not allow the viral micro organisms to interact with them and
prevent their replication in the human body’s cellular horizons; hence proved as
anti-viral agents against deadly viruses like corona viruses. Antioxidants boost
immunity by protecting the structural integrity of cells and tissues from free radical
damage. Both enzymatic antioxidants and non-enzymatic antioxidant substances
have the dynamic properties to neutralize the harmful free radical species, act as
scavengers of free radicals obtained from oxidative stress, protects the nerve
degeneration caused by free radicals in animal tissues, prevent various nerve
degeneration diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, age-related macular disease
(AMD) of the eyes and other important nerve system diseases like parkinson’s
disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neuron Disease (MND), Neurofibromatosis,
cerebral palsy etc.
Positive Impact of Natural Antioxidants
Antioxidant activity through free radical scavenging, decreasing reactive
oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation, protecting structural integrity of cells
and tissues, boosting immunity improve human health and enable human beings to
enjoy disease free happy qualitative life. So innate potential of antioxidant
substances and their bioavailability through nanotechnology techniques have to be
exploited for security of human health and increase the country’s economy, combat
economic pressure through human resources.
