Joda, swa news : Tata Steel’s mines have won 38 prizes at the pre-final day function of the 42nd Annual Mines Safety Week-2024, organized under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Bhubaneswar Region – 1, here on Saturday.
Notable winners in A-1 category included Joda East Iron Mine, Katamati Iron Mine, and Joda West, each receiving four awards, while Khondbond Iron Mine earned three accolades for excellence in safety and operational practices.
Additionally, Tiringapahad, Kamarda, and Saruabil mines in A-4 and A-5 categories claimed six prizes each, and Bamebari Mine secured four awards.
In the A-1 category, Joda East Iron Mine received 1st prize in Electrical Maintenance, while Katamati and Khondbond Mines won 1st and 2nd prizes for General Working, respectively.
Director of Mines Safety (DMS) Bhubaneswar Region – 1, Krishnendu Mondal joined the occasion as the chief guest and other prominets present were Joydev Chatopadhyay (SAIL), Pramod Kumar Patra (JSP), DN Parida (Kashvi International) and Ramshankar Sharma (JSW). Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, GM (OMQ); Rajesh Kumar, Chief, Joda; G V Satyanarayan, Chief, Khondbond, D Vijayendra, Chief, Noamundi and Awnish Kumar, Chief, Mine Planning, Noamundi from Tata Steel, and Union representatives were also present.
On the occasion a total of 192 prizes were won by 63 mines coming under Bhubaneswar region- 1. Prior to the prize distribution ceremony, quiz and first-aid competitions were held. On the occasion, dance and cultural programs were showcased by different troupes.
Tata Steel’s continuous efforts in improving safety standards and ensuring the well-being of its workforce were recognized at this prestigious event, marking another milestone in the company’s commitment to excellence in mining operations.
