Bhubaneswar: swa news : Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal today extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Diwas, celebrating the state’s rich culture, heritage, and achievements.
In his message, Mr Agarwal highlighted Odisha’s unique identity, emphasising its spirituality, art, culture, textiles, cuisine, landscapes, and architecture, which have left a lasting impression on the global stage. He praised the Odia community for continuously enhancing India’s global reputation through their talent and hard work.
Recognising Odisha as the ‘Aluminium Capital of the World,’ Mr Agarwal expressed pride in Vedanta’s deep-rooted association with the state. He said, “Odisha has provided a strong global identity to India through its abundant natural resources, both above and below the ground. We are proud to have contributed to this growth, investing over Rs. 1 lakh crore to date. But for us, it’s not just about business—people’s welfare and sustainability are our foremost priorities.”
Reflecting on Vedanta’s community efforts, he added, “It gives me immense pride that the dream of bringing prosperity to Kalahandi has come true. We’ve been able to bring happiness to every home there.”
He also extended his best wishes to the newly elected Chief Minister, saying, “I am confident that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Odisha’s dynamic CM Mohan Majhi will further advance the state’s growth story.”
Vedanta Aluminium, a key contributor to Odisha’s industrial and economic development, operates a 3.5 MTPA alumina refinery in Lanjigarh and one of the world’s largest aluminium smelters in Jharsuguda. With upcoming investments of over INR 25,000 crores, the company is poised to scale up its operations, contributing to job creation, infrastructure development, and technological advancement in the state.
